LAKE LURE, RUTHERFORD COUNTY

Invasive brush removal
in Lake Lure, NC

Brush on a Lake Lure lot is usually on a slope you cannot safely walk, thickening every year over what used to be the view. We cut it, mulch it in place, treat the stumps and come back, at a fixed written price.

INVASIVE BRUSH IN LAKE LURE

Invasive brush removal on Hickory Nut Gorge slopes

Set at the base of Hickory Nut Gorge, Lake Lure hands us properties where the ground itself is the obstacle: gorge walls above the water, rocky and steep, with a road that might run above or below but almost never both. Autumn olive and multiflora rose thrive precisely because that inaccessibility keeps anyone from cutting them back regularly. A stand rooted from a roadside seed source or an old planted hedge can bury the rhododendron along a bank and start working its way toward the water view within just a few seasons.

This is exactly the terrain the remote-controlled mulcher exists for. It handles grades no conventional machine could touch safely, which means the growth comes off the slope and gets mulched right where it stood, with nothing carried up to the road and nothing set on fire. Leaving the mulch in place does double duty on gorge ground, holding thin soil together through whatever storm season comes next as much as it clears the view.

Grade slows everything down, so a Lake Lure estimate typically runs higher per acre than flat ground back in Forest City, and whether the crew can reach a property from above, below or both changes the number further. The elevation is not exaggerated for effect: Rumbling Bald Mountain tops out just over 3,000 feet above the lake, and a good share of what we quote sits somewhere on the incline between the shoreline and that peak. Every quote breaks the slope work out as its own line item, and every job, regardless of grade, still includes cut-stump treatment on the first visit; a return visit the following growing season is recommended and quoted separately as a maintenance plan.

01

THE THICKET

Understory mulching

Forestry mulching takes the privet, honeysuckle, rose or olive thicket down to a mulch layer in one pass. Nothing is hauled, nothing is burned.

02

THE STUMPS

Cut-stump treatment

Privet and honeysuckle resprout hard from a cut stump. We treat each one so the regrowth is a handful of shoots, not a new thicket.

03

THE MAINTENANCE PLAN

Return visit

We recommend coming back during the growing season to catch whatever resprouts. That return visit is quoted separately as a maintenance plan, and you see the price before anything is scheduled.

THE FROM $1,500 PRICE

A base price,
with the scope made clear.

Land clearing from $1,500. Sounds crazy? It's not. It depends on acreage and location.

The $1,500 starting price covers the first visit: cutting and mulching the growth and treating the stumps on a small, accessible patch of invasive brush. Bigger ground, denser thickets, tight access and mixed stands of privet, honeysuckle, rose and olive move the number up, and you see that number in writing before we schedule anything.

Our promise: a fixed written price before we start. No day rates. Nonstandard access or extra follow-up work is quoted before anything is scheduled.

Privet and honeysuckle push hard out of a cut stump left in the ground, so a job that stops at mulching isn't a finished removal. That's why we recommend a return visit. Return visits for regrowth are quoted separately as a maintenance plan, and you see that price in writing before anything is scheduled.

HOW IT WORKS

Know the price.
Then decide.

  1. 01

    Tell us about the property

Call, text or send the form with the property location and roughly how far the brush has spread. Photos help.

  2. 02

    Walk it and price it

We look at access, slope and how dense the thicket is, then send a fixed written price. No day rates.

  3. 03

    Cut, mulch, treat, return

Top growth is mulched in place and stumps are treated on the first visit. We recommend coming back in the growing season to catch resprouts, quoted separately as a maintenance plan.

BEFORE YOU CALL

Lake Lure brush removal questions

All brush questions ↗

What if my lot has no drivable access from below?

That's fairly common around the lake, and the remote-controlled mulcher can typically work in from whichever side does have access, running on grades nobody could stand on safely. On the rare lot with no workable approach from either direction, we'll tell you that directly during the walk-through rather than quote a job we can't actually do. Photos sent along with your request help us know what we're dealing with before we ever drive out.

Is there extra permitting involved for slope clearing around Lake Lure?

Sometimes, yes. Shoreline and steep-slope work here can be subject to local rules that don't touch flat ground elsewhere in the county. We look into what applies to your parcel specifically before quoting and take care of anything required. A permit question is never a reason not to ask for a price up front.
