INVASIVE BRUSH IN UNION MILLS

Invasive brush removal on Union Mills pasture edges

Strung along the Second Broad River, Union Mills is unincorporated farm country, and the jobs we quote there follow a familiar pattern: a pasture fence running the length of the river bottom, a hayfield margin that's gone a few seasons without mowing, a tree line splitting two working farms. Loose, well-watered river-bottom soil paired with open sun right up to the water's tree line gives autumn olive and honeysuckle about the best conditions either species could ask for once they get established.

The Rutherford County Fire Marshal's office lists Union Mills as running its own dedicated fire department on Hudlow Road rather than a satellite outpost of a larger town, a small detail that hints at how self-sufficient this community still is relative to Forest City or Rutherfordton down the road. The properties we quote out here are working farms first and foremost, with brush treated as one more edge-of-field task rather than the central issue.

Nine miles out, a Union Mills estimate is priced against the actual fence line or field edge in question, following the same logic as a Bostic or Ellenboro job. The number comes back fixed and in writing before anything begins, cut-stump treatment is part of the first visit on every job, and it makes no difference to the price whether the crew wraps up in two hours or needs two full days. A return visit is recommended and quoted separately as a maintenance plan.

01

THE THICKET

Understory mulching

Forestry mulching takes the privet, honeysuckle, rose or olive thicket down to a mulch layer in one pass. Nothing is hauled, nothing is burned.

02

THE STUMPS

Cut-stump treatment

Privet and honeysuckle resprout hard from a cut stump. We treat each one so the regrowth is a handful of shoots, not a new thicket.

03

THE MAINTENANCE PLAN

Return visit

We recommend coming back during the growing season to catch whatever resprouts. That return visit is quoted separately as a maintenance plan, and you see the price before anything is scheduled.

THE FROM $1,500 PRICE

A base price,
with the scope made clear.

Land clearing from $1,500. Sounds crazy? It's not. It depends on acreage and location.

The $1,500 starting price covers the first visit: cutting and mulching the growth and treating the stumps on a small, accessible patch of invasive brush. Bigger ground, denser thickets, tight access and mixed stands of privet, honeysuckle, rose and olive move the number up, and you see that number in writing before we schedule anything.

Our promise: a fixed written price before we start. No day rates. Nonstandard access or extra follow-up work is quoted before anything is scheduled.

Privet and honeysuckle push hard out of a cut stump left in the ground, so a job that stops at mulching isn't a finished removal. That's why we recommend a return visit. Return visits for regrowth are quoted separately as a maintenance plan, and you see that price in writing before anything is scheduled.

HOW IT WORKS

Know the price.
Then decide.

  1. 01

    Tell us about the property

Call, text or send the form with the property location and roughly how far the brush has spread. Photos help.

  2. 02

    Walk it and price it

We look at access, slope and how dense the thicket is, then send a fixed written price. No day rates.

  3. 03

    Cut, mulch, treat, return

Top growth is mulched in place and stumps are treated on the first visit. We recommend coming back in the growing season to catch resprouts, quoted separately as a maintenance plan.

BEFORE YOU CALL

Union Mills brush removal questions

All brush questions ↗

Is brush removal near the Second Broad River treated any differently?

Property close to the river can be subject to rules that a dry field farther away wouldn't be, so we research what applies to your particular spot before putting together a quote. Getting equipment down to the riverbank can also be harder than open ground, and that access issue gets priced in ahead of time rather than surfacing as a surprise on the day of the job.

We keep cattle on our Union Mills property. Can you still work around an active pasture?

That's a routine request for us. Before scheduling, we'll go over fencing, gate access and where the livestock needs to stay clear of equipment, none of which changes the fixed price once we've agreed on it. Just let us know about the active pasture when you send your request so we can plan the visit accordingly.
